Trainings/Presentations
· Trainings in nonviolent direct action in Montreal for groups preparing actions against the FTAA, the Free Trade Area of the Americas. Also provided organizing support for the first consulta and presentations at conference on nonviolent action. (Jan)
· Trainings in Sonoma County, CA, for the No-Spray Network, working against the forced spraying of pesticides. (Jan.)
· Trainings for global justice groups in Brazil-Porto Alegre, Sao Paolo and Belo Horizonte, and in Buenos Aires, Argentina. (Jan-Feb)
· Hosted a Direct Action Trainers' Summit in San Francisco to evaluate the work from the previous year as well as to share agendas and skills. Brought together people from around the country including George Lakey and some Ruckus trainers (Feb.)
· Trainings and organizing support ACORN, the Association for Community Organizations for Reform Now for a civil disobedience action around a low-income housing campaign. (March)
· Trainings in LA for AFTRA, the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, in preparation for a strike. (April)
· Trainings focused on the FTAA actions in West Virginia, Lancaster, PA, Philadelphia, PA, New York City, Albany, NY, Montpelier and Burlington, VT., Victoria and Vancouver, British Columbia. Montreal and Quebec City, Quebec. (April)
· Direct Action Trainings at the Empowering Democracy Conference Dallas. (May)
· Presentation on the Global Justice Movement at the Organizers Forum - a group of labor leaders and organizers from around the country in Baltimore. (May)
· Direct Action Trainings with the Harvard Students in Boston on the Living Wage Campaign during the 3 week occupation of the administration building. (May)
· Attended the Peoples' Global Action conference in Amherst in June and have been working to help an international global justice action umbrella group develop and grow. (June)
· Presentation at a Conference in Genoa on Gender and Globalization in Genoa. (June)
· Presentation/Training on non-hierarchical organizing at the National Organizers Alliance Gathering in Sonoma. (June).
· Extensive trainings and organizing support in Genoa for the Genoa Social Forum and the protests against the G8. (July)
· Major organizing for the planned actions in Washington DC at the end of September against the IMF/World Bank. When those actions were cancelled because of September 11, we carried on with trainings for the antiwar actions that replaced the planned protests. Trainings in Asheville, NC, Burlington, VT, Madison, WI, Toronto, Ontario, and Washington, DC.
· Organizing and trainings for actions in the San Francisco Bay Area against the WTO meeting in Qatar in November, including a training for trainers-in San Francisco and Santa Cruz.
· Trainings in Ottawa for actions against the IMF/World Bank meeting (Nov)
We participated and helped organize and mobilize people for actions in:
San Francisco, (April-FTAA), Quebec City, (April, FTAA), Sonoma County, (July, Bohemian Grove), Genoa, (July-G8), Tijuana (August-Borderhack Conference), Washington DC, (September, Post 9-11Antiwar), SF Bay Area (November, WTO and local community issues), Ottawa (November, IMF/World Bank).

Trainings in Fortaleza, Brazil, for the protests against the Inter-American Development Bank.
Trainings in Sao Paolo for organizers.
. Trainings for the April anti-war/justice in the Middle East actions in Washington, DC.
· Training and organizing for the G8 Meetings in Kananaskis, Canada. Weekend training for organizers and trainers in April. On the ground support in June. Also bringing in permaculture community activists to offer workshops and trainings.
Trainings for the International Solidarity Movement in Palestine. Participation in nonviolent human shield work in Balata and Jenin, June and July.
Trainings and organizing for the September IMF/World Bank actions in Washington DC.
Antiwar organizing and training in San Francisco, Austin and nationally.
Other Contributions to building the Global Justice Movement
· Strategic visioning before and during these actions.
· Bringing in new pieces to the movement work ie: rituals, created a Temporary Autonomous Zone in Washington DC that offered healing, dialogue, food etc, facilitated informal dialogues between anti-capitalists, labor and religious activists.
· Creativity, ritual, drums, song, a living example of vibrant and fearless nonviolence.
· Tactical experience and innovative ways to help safeguard participants in dangerous situations. Guidance and true solidarity at critical moments-from shepherding the Pink Bloc through the streets of Genoa to keeping the police dogs from attacking the black bloc in Ottawa.
· Legal and jail solidarity training and experience
· Providing writing and reports from actions (mostly Starhawk) and creating documents like Solidarity in Practice and the Anti-Oppression Principles and Practices (in DC, Lisa)
· Development of new agendas, new approaches to preparing activists for situations that are unpredictable and uncontrolled, and for escalating levels of police violence.
